The beauty in the in between
My Sun Striped series came about when I began reflecting on the past year or so. My family had a lot of time by ourselves and in our home and we were able to find so much peace and joy there. A huge portion of our time was spent on the porch or in the back yard around a big wooden table. Coffee or wine always present, casting shadows and creating patterns. I created these 6 pieces to be a reminder to myself, and to those who view them, to continually search for happiness in the spaces in between. We do not need to be doing something extraordinary to have extraordinary moments and memories.
I used bright, hot colors atop rich shadows to create a sense of glowing light throughout these paintings. I really wanted to capture the sun-dappled feel that is always playing through our yard. The beauty in these pieces are in the details, exactly how life should be.
